Dershowitz on the Anthony verdict

Word. The points that this piece makes about the distinction between justice and morality are particularly well put. It's important to remember that the justice system is not necessarily about doing what appears morally right in each given case; but by pursuing our defined principles of justice in all cases, we end up with the best possible result overall. It's not perfect, but it's the best we can do.

Klosterman on watching sports in real time

Once again, Chuck Klosterman makes relevant observations about seemingly irrelevant pop culture phenomena. In this video, Klosterman speaks to a group of college students and gives his answer to the following question: why is watching a pre-recorded sporting event less pleasurable than watching the same game live? I'm not sure that his proposed answers really solve the mystery; but as always, he's got an interesting and unique take on things.
